Kata Yai and Kata Noi are two beautiful beaches with distinct charms. Kata Noi is compact and tranquil, with soft white sand facing a crystal-blue sea. Kata Yai Beach is also beautiful, and unlike Kata Noi is popular for water-sport activities such as surfing, parasailing, and jet skiing. Both beaches are ideal for swimming, and also used for scuba-dive training. There are not many hotels and resorts in the area, and they are often full during the surfing season and the quarter-finals of the King's Cup sailing competition held in December.
